West Florida Rehabilitation Institute
More than 35 million people become disabled each year due to various neurologic and orthopedic conditions and injuries. Most of these people will need rehabilitation, a process of learning, relearning and practicing skills in order to be as self-sufficient as possible.
Program Description
The Rehabilitation Institute offers an extensive array of rehabilitative services for individuals with activity limitations and is licensed by the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitation Services as the only comprehensive physical medicine rehabilitation hospital in the Pensacola area. The program focuses on returning the patient to maximum independence under the guidance of a team of professionals specializing in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation Institute is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and consistently meets or exceeds the regional and national rehabilitation standards. The Institute is adjacent to West Florida Hospital's acute care hospital which offers medical support services, including emergency medical care, x-ray and lab services.
Additionally, West Florida Rehabilitation Institute provides an in-depth education program for family members and caregivers so that the patient is well prepared upon discharge. The success of the family education programs is reflected in the fact that 80% or more of all rehab patients are discharged home.
